GUARD GIBERN OF THE KING'S HOUSEHOLD GUARDS, model 1814, Restoration period. $29,995
Black varnished calf box, including the scalloped profile strap covered with red waxed leather sewn and folded over the outer border. The sides of the box are leather with a red waxed leather border. Underneath the box, three black varnished leather straps are sewn, each with a rectangular brass buckle with a prong. At the back of the box, in the upper part, a strip of black varnished leather, 3.7 cm in height, runs the width to hold the gibert strap. The box measures 9 cm in height, 19 cm in width, and 6 cm in thickness. The strap measures 15.5 cm in height and 23.5 cm in width. In the center of the strap, a silver-plated copper plaque (H 11.3 cm, width 12.9 cm) is affixed embossed with a radiant sun surmounted by the royal crown and decorated at the bottom with two crossed keys with a sword in the middle. The center of this plaque is adorned with the face of the Sun in relief gilt brass (H 3.3 cm, width 3.5 cm). On the right edge of the box, a wide black varnished leather strap 12.7 cm long is sewn, ending in a fleur-de-lis shape.

Restoration period.
Perfect conservation condition, chips in the varnish of the box on its rear and lower parts, missing the cartridge wood as on the example found in the former collections of Raoul and Jean Brunon, at the Army Museum, Château de l'Empéri (Salon de Provence).
NOTE:
The King's Household Guards were created on July 15, 1814, and disbanded on January 1, 1816. Due to this brief duration, very few objects from this unit have come down to us. There are probably fewer than five gibers of this type, one of which is in the Army collections, formerly owned by Raoul and Jean Brunon.
