INFANTRY SAPPER SABER, FIRST EMPIRE.
Brass hilt with a cockerel head pommel. Crossguard featuring a rectangular raised relief cartouche with a lion's head in the center and a double quillon ending in a mythological monster head. Curved blade with a single fuller, signed on the back "Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal" (most likely from around 1810). Length 73.5 cm. Complete with its leather frog. Black waxed leather scabbard with two brass fittings. The scabbard throat has a button for attaching the sword to a shoulder belt, shaped as a lion's head.
Fair condition, with the pommel showing damage and the crest of the cockerel on its left side being deformed. The blade is oxidized, and the leather scabbard is intact, with some flaking mainly on the edges of the lower part. Glaive has never been cleaned and remains in its original state.
