UNDRESS UNIFORM FOR A MARSHAL OF CAMPAIGN DURING THE FIRST RESTORATION (APRIL 1814 - MARCH 1815).
Marshal of Camp bicorne hat. Made of black "flamand" felt, a black curled ostrich feather is sewn inside the two edges; a gimp formed by three matte gold braids, doubling around the large gilt uniform button for a Marshal of Camp and Lieutenant General starting from May 1814 (flat, polished gold and matte, embossed with a trophy made of flags and a shield bearing a large fleur-de-lys, topped with a helmet), cockade in white bazin and silver threads. At the end of the two horns, a gold seed tassel is sewn (this decoration will be removed starting from December 5, 1815). The headpiece is made of black polished sheepskin and black silk with a printed label in black ink reading MORICET / APPOINTED BY H.R.H. THE DUKE OF BERRY / SUPPLIER TO THE ROYAL GUARD RUE DE RICHELIEU N°22 / MILITARY ARMOUR, HATS, HELMETS, TRIMMINGS AND SUPPLIES. Dimensions: L. 42.50 cm - W. 16.50 cm - H (front): 19 cm - H (back): 23.70 cm. Cockade diameter: 9 cm. Condition: slight wear on the felt, oxidation of the gilding on the braids.
Undress coat for a Marshal of Camp. Made entirely of dark blue cloth, fastening straight at the front with a row of nine uniform buttons, large module for a Marshal of Camp and Lieutenant General from August 19, 1814 (flat, polished gold and matte, embossed with a trophy of flags and a shield bearing a large fleur-de-lys, topped with a helmet) in gilded brass. High standing collar. The sleeves are open at the wrist and close with a small covered blue cloth button. Size badge with two uniform buttons. False three-pointed pocket flaps, placed high and simply outlined with piping in the color of the coat, each point oriented towards the back and adorned with a uniform button. Turnbacks of the tails in the color of the uniform with a gold embroidered fleur-de-lys on the four points. The lining of the two tails has a pocket. The direct embroideries in covered thread, frizzed cannetille and sequins secured by covered thread are gold; they depict undulating oak branches laden with fruit (length 4.50 cm). They are bordered by a serrated rod of covered thread and sequins secured by a cannetille twist (width 1 cm). These embroideries adorn the collar, front openings, and the size badge. On each shoulder, a gold embroidery shoulder strap on a dark blue background. The inside of the coat is lined with black grosgrain from Tours. Height at the back with the collar: 100 cm - Collar height: 10 cm - Shoulder width: 29 cm. Condition: excellent. Slight oxidation on the embroideries.
Pair of Marshal of Camp epaulettes. They are embroidered in twisted cords and gold sequins. The body featuring a palmette and stylized scrolls is bordered by a scalloped frame on dark blue cloth; its badge adorned with a palm carries two silver stars. The fringes are in large matte braids. The contour of the badge consists of three twists: a large one, in dull braid and shiny twisted thread alternately rolled on a cotton core; a second, on the inside, and a third, applied below the large one at the start of the fringe, are both of the same workmanship. Lining in dark blue cloth with a printed label in black ink reading MORICET, / HATTER, TRIMMINGS / MAKER AND SUPPLIER TO H.R.H. / THE DUKE OF BERRY / RUE DE RICHELIEU / No. 12, / IN PARIS. Condition: very good. Slight oxidations. France, around 1814-1815.
NOTE:
The designation of Lieutenant General is once again used in place of "General of Division," and Marshal of Camp in place of "Brigadier General" during the Restoration and July Monarchy and disappears definitively in 1848.
