This watercolor is part of a collection painted between 1875 and 1881.
Auguste Louis Victor de Moltzheim (1822-1881) volunteered at the age of 18 in the artillery train, appointed as a lieutenant in the artillery corps in 1854, participated in the Crimean campaign in 1855, promoted to the rank of captain in 1860, Algeria campaign 1860-1861, Knight in the Legion of Honor in 1869.
