OFFICER'S SABER OF HUSSARS, Directoire - Consulate. 30274

Gilded bronze saber. Guard in the German style with one branch decorated in relief with oak leaves and a large arrow with a plumed helmet, knuckle guard decorated with an oval medallion in relief featuring a head of Medusa; pommel with engraved foliate designs; handle in wood entirely filigreed in silver.
White blade with one fuller, simply engraved with weapons trophies and foliage, length 80 cm, width at the base 3.3 cm, thickness 1 cm.
Scabbard in wood covered with black waxed calf leather with two large gilt brass fittings. Brass belt loops and rings. Iron tip.

Very good condition, the fittings of the scabbard are partially gilted.
