PAIR OF CONTRA-ADMIRAL EPAULETTES, JULY MONARCHY.
They are embroidered in a frieze of twists and gold sequins. The body is embroidered with a design representing a V-shaped stick braid bordered by a scalloped frame on a dark blue, almost black velvet fabric; its escutcheon is decorated with a shield with a scalloped edge adorned with two silver stars framing a marine anchor topped with a crown embroidered in gold threads and cannetille. The fringes are in thick matte twists. The outline consists of three turns: a large one in matte braid and shiny spun alternately on a cotton core; an inner second in small twisted matte Milanese mixed with another simple shiny one; a third, of the same work, is applied below the large one, at the beginning of the fringe.
Uniform button from 1854 (half-dome, gilded in burnished and matte, stamped and embossed with a trophy formed by a marine anchor with flags and a shield stamped with a star, all topped by a star), attached at the top of the epaulette body, a sturdy clasp is placed below, at the corresponding part (this clasp fits into a small pocket sewn onto the uniform).
